    Matthew Webb

lighting design and visual art for theatre and live performance

A Little About Me:

Theatre is, above all, about sharing stories. I love helping audiences to connect, both with the play and with each other.

I've been lucky to spend my time mostly in the regional theatre, and I believe fervently that the most important stories are being told by resident companies to the communities that house and support them.

We, as theatre artists, have a responsibility (and I, a passion) to invest ourselves in work that is meaningful and challenging for our own communities. Nothing excites me more than sharing a show with the community that made it.

Theatre is joyous, immediate, gratifying and exhilarating - and impassioned, aggressive, demanding and complicated. Always, though, theatre is vital.

I want to tell vital stories with you.
